With everything that’s going on The Keepers of the Veil want to reassure the public. Understandably, the incursions from the Feywild are upsetting, but we need to keep from spreading hurtful rumors. Stories of breaches to the Shadowfell, stolen automatons, and sightings of unexplainable creatures are simply that. Rumors. We have monitored the situation closely, and if anything were to happen like that we would immediately alert the public. We have your best interests at heart, and the spreading of the untrue and alarming stories only serve to harm the bond that is so important to the success of this city.

Chaos rocks the quarantine area as explosions rip through the eastern section of the city. Tensions have been on the rise as the alleged supply shipment disruptions have picked up. Citizens interviewed have said that a fight between rival criminal organizations escalated to a fevered pitch. The official report from the city guard says otherwise, with them blaming a poorly maintained industrial site for the explosions. With the heated situation in the quarantine zone, tensions on the east side of the river have never been higher.

The fact that a man as smart as Stanton Slayton thinks that he can fight fire with fire is astounding. I mean, it’s great for us, just surprising really. Ego is such a wonderful tool. It’s versatile and effective in way things like fear, or intimidation don’t even touch. With every one of those new, little projects he brings into this cage of a world, I can feel more of my reality seap in. Soon, our little ember is gonna be an inferno, because the only thing that happens when you fight fire with fire is you make the fire worse.

Battered and bruised, the team try to collect themselves and find their lost member, but Ada and Stanton have put together something new to stand in their way.

I think Ada is too obsessed with the self-made heroes, We Are All in the Gutter. What do you mean pot calling the kettle black? I’m not obsessed with them. Do I have a vested interested in SOME of their members? Yes, but don’t sit there and tell me you don’t as well. We both know that they have value, in one sense or another. Of course, I’m not going to stop their plan, but I feel they are thinking far too little of them. I know first hand what happens when you underestimate their ingenuity.

Ash to Ash has been like an animal stuck in the trap of our loyalty to the Sands. We all came from there, and I think we all hoped they would come around to our point of view. We can’t wait anymore. The world is ending around us. So we have to cut ourselves free from all the things holding us back. It will hurt us deeply, but the satisfaction of knowing the we can start our work in earnest will ease the pain.

Plots are uncovered as the team cases the crowd of the party. With backroom deals, surprise arrivals, and just a bit of blood, it’s a buffet of fun.

We found the tear yesterday. It lines up exactly across the planes with where we came in. The energy here is so different, though. It’s focused; like it has a want of its own. It’s a radical departure from how my reality ended. There it was simply a force of nature. In the same way an earthquake doesn’t target a building or a city, the energy had the same indifference toward us. Here, though, it almost feels like there is a malice behind it. Stanton says he can push back what’s coming once he gets what he needs. I don’t know what will come for us. We left before that happened. No more running from the void.
